Playing JPEGs on Portable DVD Players

I back up my digital photos onto a seperate hard disk and then on DVD. I'm considering buying a portable DVD player for about £150 and wonder whether my JPEGs will view on these things. Many quote that they play DVD + / - format but often state JPEG Cd's, which suggests that they won;t play JPEG's on DVDs. Is my thinking correct here, or am I barking up the wrong tree? I just don;t want to fork out £150 and then find I can't play my JPEG DVD's on it!

DVD devices and players normally have both a DVD and a CD laser (they operate on different wavelengths), so you should be able to play back .jpeg files with a modern product as well as audio CDs.

The specification should make it clear but, if you are buying at a local outlet, why not take a disk of .jpeg images with you and try it?
