Is it generally preferable to send and receive emails in plain text only and can these settings be enabled in Thunderbird?

Cheers.

It all depends. There are opinions both ways - my preference is to send plain text emails - formatting is not lost and they are smaller than html mails.

Thank you for you reply but am wondering if it is at safer to receive messages in Plain Text, at least?

I use MSGTAG and I think that if Plain Text is enabled for receipt of messages, a notification will not be sent to the mail sender?

Thanks for your opinion.

Safer? Probably but you are at a low danger level anyway so it is relative.

As for MSGTAG, I don't use it nor am I familiar with its operation.
