Picasa and Thunderbird

I've just downloaded Picasa2 and it seems to be a very good program; however, I've been trying to send myself test pictures and they are not appearing in my inbox.
I have probably missed something in setting things up, but would welcome suggestions as to what I should check.

Well the method is, select your image from within picassa. At the bottom of the gallery page is an email icon, click on this icon then you should get the option to select your email account.

I used Thunderbird in the past so this comes up, but I now use Windows Mail as my default, so clicking on Thunderbird now opens my default email program with the image already reduced and compressed ready for me to input an address & message

Yes, that's what I've been doing. However, I sent a picture to my son, which arrived OK, so I guess it doesn't matter that I can't mail to myself!
