I have some full HD videos that Picasa hesitates to play.

If I 'open with' WMP there is no problem.

Is there a way to make WMP the default player?

XP Home SP3

Thanks.

Hi muddypaws

It's been a long time since I used an XP machine, but try this, if it doesn't work I'll have another think...

Right click a video and in the pop up list hover the cursor over >Open with<

Here a pop up will list all the players that are on your system, ignore them, even if WMP is listed. Instead Left click >choose default program<

Select >use the standard Windows Program< then OK

In the pop up Left click the box that says...

>always use the selected program to open this kind of file<

Then either select the player you want to be your default or if it isn't in the list browse for it.

Graphicool1 I forgot to mention, and I apologise, that in the drop down 'open with' all the players are listed, but the normal option box to 'always use this program' is missing. I also posted on the Picasa 3 forum with the missing bit included, but the chances of a reply there are remote.

So came here.

It just means that I have to go through the procedure for each video.

One more PS !!

Left clicking only selects whichever is highlighted. Nowhere else to click.

Basically all it suggests is to update K-Lite Codecs which I did, but no change. Anyway thanks for suggestions. Will resolve.
