Physical / Virtual Memory Swap

  pcolvin00 20:53 21 Oct 2007

I seem to remember a way for Windows XP to host the swapfile in RAM and therefore work faster. I have two gig of RAM on this laptop and I'm wanting to try it. How can I go about it? I seem to remember it was a few registry tweaks??

Cheers in advance

The swapfile is only used if you run out of RAM.

You can turn off the swapfile or virtual memory.

I doubt very much if you would notice any difference, with 2Gb RAM your swapfile is probably not going come into use anyway. As I understand it, swapfile was more used when computers had very limited amounts of RAM compared to todays norm of 2Gb.

Ok I haven't noticed any difference really. Do I mean the Kernel memory instead then? :$

Hmm, I would advise not messing with Kernel memory - if it aint broke, don't fix it.
