Physical Memory Dumping

  Russ100 15:06 31 Aug 2005

I'm trying to update a bit of software on a PC, but every time I insert the CD I get a BSOD with the message:

***STOP:0x00000044, (0x813SF008,0x00000CCA,0x00000000,0x00000000)

Begining dump of physical memory

Dumping physical memory to disc (counter)
Ultimately the PC crashes and reboots.

Can anybody throw any light on where the problem may lie?

Some links about this error in this forum click here

You can google on the error and get plenty of ideas. Since it's a general error with many possible causes, your best bet is probably to work your way through the links and see if any of them apply to you.

Have tried Googling and following up links with no success. I've checked the events log and there is reference to a reboot after bugcheck. Don't know if this helps. I've also run a search and found a stack of DMP files, one of which is 261mb. Does this give any clues. I've fitted a new DVD unit and checked the ide ribbons - all seem OK but bsod still appears when I insert a CD. Otherwise PC is fine. I'm stumped!
