Photoshop Elements Won't Launch

  Mrs Smith 09:44 07 Jun 2006

I have Photoshop Elements 2.0 installed on my laptop. It works OK except that every so often it hangs during launch. When this happens I have to remove all the files from the Plug-ins folder. The programme then launches OK but I can only put the plug-ins back four at a time, otherwise it hangs again.

I have now downloaded the trial of Photoshop Elements 4. This programme hangs during launch, even when I remove the plug-ins.

This has happened on both the laptops I have owned.

Why does this happen and what can I do about it?

Do you get any messages about "Trying to connect to a DNS server" or similar when the program tries to launch.

No, it seems quite random. Sometimes it hangs on 'initialising', but not always. I have finally got Photoshop Elements 4 to load, but it took ages to read preferences.

Why not put your plugins in a seperate folder, then when you need to use one, create a shortcut to it in photoshop elements plugin folder. This way you can control which plugins load.

I didn't know you could do that! How exactly do I do it?
