Photo DVD Maker

I a trying to make a DVD using Windows DVD maker that just simply shows photo's one by one and is set to music. For some reason the music feature has a mind of its own. Sometimes it plays certain tracks and sometimes it doesn't, depending on the order that I put them. So although it says that another track is about to start, I just hear silence. I am using Vista.

Is this a known problem or does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Failing that is there some other simple, free software that can do this for me? It seems like it should be a really simple task!

Thanks for any help

First Try making the film in Movie maker. Put your tracks on the audio line. Best thing is to make a number of samaller films. One for each different set of photos. Then when you use DVD maker. You can have different chapters so the finished film will give you the option of palying all or certain scenes.
