In the bios the cpu is read correctly as a Phenom 9850, in vista 64 (the area of windows experience index) its read as a Phenom 9850.In device manager its still showing the old Phenom 9600.I have run the new hardware wizard without success and tried to update the drivers for the cpu with no effect. Is there anyway to get device manager to see the correct cpu without reloading vista. The computer is working fine with the new cpu, its just an annoying glitch.
Try deleting it in Device Manager and rebooting and see if it properly recognised then . Ashley
AMD cool n Quiet can cause this problem. Go in to the BIOS and disable it completely then reboot. When its reading as it should you can then go back into the BIOS and re-enable it if you wish.
Ashrich,Thankyou, that worked a treat, it was the only thing I had not thought of to try.
Well done ! Mark as solved please . Ashley
