Has anyone ever heard of Peter Gutmann's paper on Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory. It is extremely interseting.

I prefer DieSees postings of explanations.

Very interesting, but it can't beat hitting the HDD with a big Hammer when it's removed and finished with! New ones are cheap, especially if security is a problem.

It is triple dull and is only relevant for Government and secure sites....however, they would not and do not use his rather clumsy, studentish methods;-)))) A paper for geeks only.
