Performance seems slow after upgrade

I just upgraded my PC with an Intel Core2 Quad 9300, Nvidia 8800 GT using an EVGA nForce 750i SLI motherboard.

I am running Win XP SP2 and the machine is free of viruses, adware and spyware.

I used 3dMark and got a result of 7885 and the Passmark benchmark was significantly below an Intel 6300. The graphics card checks out fine.

Anyone have any ideas what I should look for or check.

Latest graphic card drivers?

Is the card in the correct slot seeing it's a SLI board?

I have latest graphic drivers and board is in correct slot.

I think problem is with CPU/settings

if you're not happy messing with setting use click here try a quick tune first.
as it's software it wont mess with a voltages and if quite safe, it will probaly clock the card and ram up.
i would use coolbits on the card only up to max nvidia recommend, bring the ram to +10% max (sold as speed and leave the cpu.
but give ntune a try.
dont forget to make a restore point before you use it, it's safe but every system is different.

oh! if your not in the usa, only use the international download (window on right)
sounds obvious but is a mistake easily made ahem!
