Has anyone any comments or has used PCPITSTOP to do a check on their PC ??

I use PC Pitstop regulary to check changes I make such as overclocking. It`s not that accurate and with the same setting you may get a different score each time but alway`s in the same area. It`s very good for checking your machine generally and has some good tips too.

Tep generally very good. However I would ignore any warnings about hard disk access speed _ I think their measurement is flawed click here

Also, don't get obsessed with checking the performance of your 'puter. If it is working OK, be happy.

PC Pitstop's hdd test is so flawed infact that it claims my WD Raptor 10000rpm sata drive is slower than my old IBM 7200 rpm ata100 drive. A finding cetainly not born out in use or in other tests.

PC Pitstop is the first place I go to after making any hardware changes just to see how well the upgrade went. It is also very useful for a quick check on lot's of things including Internet Explorer, connection settings, Windows settings etc in fact it can point out problems you weren't even aware of. It's a good site to help keep your PC running at it's best. I recommend it.

If it works as it should why bother

I have programs for checking memory Hard Drive CPU etc on my comp. And you get lots of suggestions that BIOS settings make a lot of difference it's a lot of wooy. What you gain on the swings you loos on the roundabout. If cache it Enabled in BIOS that's one of the main things there are other bits but you would not see any difference in the real world

I tried it for the first time the other day and had xp service pack 1 and internet flagged as minor problems.

The next obvious question is what the hell is wrong with xp service pack 1.....

still didn't give me any clues as to why my system crashes at random (and has done since I bought it !!)

Did you follow their tips to see what changes they suggest to improve things ?

have used it on occaision "when i was bored":-)

no real problems with it.normally reports my info as ok but i wouldnt trust the info reported though.as VoG and christmascracker.

what piece of hardware etc do you wish to check or improve performance of?

there are far better stand alone apps available to test, tweak and adjust settings available.
