PC wont turn on :-(

Hello All,

PC was acting strangely this morning.

At first it started operating really slowly.

I did what I needed to do and then turned it off.

Came back to it later and it turned itself off and gave a long series of short beeps.

So I turned it off again and turned it back on.

It was ok for a little while then rebooted itself.

It did this a couple of times.

Now when I try to turn it on the front power LED light comes on and the HDD light comes on, but thats it. No picture or anything else.

Any suggestions as to what to check first?

Short beeps indicates memory failure I believe.
Those the know more will come to you rescue.

I think it depends on the motherboard which code of bleeps means what, there are lists of these somewhere on the web.

I had personal experience of your symptems on a brand new delivery for a friend.
The answer in that case was a loosened graphics card. Reseating it firmly restored things to normal. I hope Midsman2005 it is your answer too.

Just to be gloomy, a mobo failure for another friend sounded like an emergency services siren!

Switch off, unplug, open case and ensure memory and graphics card are fully seated.
