am trying to get the computer to boot from the floppy but no joy.have tried 2 other floppyschecked the ide cable.also cant get the pc to a command prompt.
Have you checked the boot sequence in the bios?
To open a command prompt Start, Run, typecmdand click OK.
Two things1) go to device manager and delete/disable FDD controller, then reboot and see if you have the drive back again.2 open the case with the computer off, and remake the plugged connection between the motherboard and the Floppy drive in case one was not making a good contact.Other possibilities be sure you can read the floppy in My Computer and if you can, then the BIOS is possibly not set to boot from the floppy as first boot device.
checked the bios all ok.cant get onto windows as ntldr is missingso trying to fdisk or get onto command prompt to fixboot.also cant run recovery as dont have admin password and xp wont repair or install properly but does in different pc.
tried that site and others but dont know admin password. so need to know if i can copy some files onto a cd and boot from cd to do the same thing(an easy way)
