PC wont boot correctly

I have formatted my PC the same way I always have and loaded with Vista. Problem is it now says something like Boot disk failure, please insert system disk. The O/S is on the drive ok but wont boot unless the CD is in the drive. If the CD is not in the drive the error occurs. Why? Thanks.

Have you tried going into the Bios and checking the Boot order?
3.Disable (no floppy)

Yes when it was set to Hard disk first, the error occured then I set to CD-Rom first and the error occured, but when I put CD in it booted into windows.

Any more help please?

It seems to me that the PC wants to take its boot instruction from the CD rather than the O/S that is on the hard drive.

Ok, now it seems to boot without the CD in but in the boot manager there seems to be 6 Vistas for it to choose from! How do I remove the ones that are not needed?
