pc will not "wake up"

  BOBFIX 20:23 19 Oct 2006

Hi, having problems with my pc after it has shut off the monitor when not in use. When the mouse or any key is operated the monitor green light comes on but all I get is a mouse arrow on the screen. Have waited for ages to see if it will restore to "normal" but only a reboot sorts this out. PC runs fine from boot up. Standby mode and shutdown HD are disabled. Using XP pro, 512Mb memory. Any ideas what might be causing this? Bobfix

In power options is the turn off monitor set to never?

  BOBFIX 19:08 20 Oct 2006

No, its set to turn off after 10 mins

Well you could try to disable all the "sleep" functions including the hibernate options to see if that works and of course you are happy not to run in saving mode.

I came out of saving mode for similar reasons.

It's not the Monitor, it's the Hard Drive that's gone to sleep. in Power Managment\Control Panel Set it to Never

Can you tell us what you have done?

  BOBFIX 23:13 22 Oct 2006

Sorry being thick here, what do you mean by "what have you done" I don't think I did anything to cause this! But I have a idea it may be caused by one of my daughters games as it seems to be ok if she has not been on it, Game is Lord of the Rings just in case its relevant.
