PC will not play WMA files.

Hi guys, I hope you can help me out with this problem . I am usually very good with computers but this is just baffling me. Ever since I re-installed Windows XP from a virus my PC will not play WMA files. The files are from my previous install, but this shouldn't why they do not work as my MP3 files play fine. I have tried many applications (iTunes, WMP, Winamp, etc.) but none work. I am starting to think it is a sound card problem, but I don't want to have to upgrade it as I don't have the money (only 14 years of age). I have tried upgrading the drivers to the latest version, failed. My PC is an eMachines E3021 with a Realtek AC97 integrated audio card. This problem didn't occur on my other PC when installing Vista (eMachines PC also) so I am very confused. Thanks in advance people.
