click here £389 with 17" monitor. They are great to deal with and will leave out any apps whose software you already have{taking the price down even further}. In addition they will customise it to whatever OS/graphics card etc you ask for. Five year warranty supplied and no-one down your neck trying to sell you an insurance cover for repairs/damage!

The last route is to buy s/h. Ive seen 1800xp systems with monitor loaded with Me or 98se for less that £250. What could go wrong which couldn't get fixed for less that £50?

Visit a computer fair and you can find all sorts of bargains. Old style maybe but perfectly good for most purposes from about £200 and up.

Build it. I have built one for a friend consisting of DFI P4 M/B, P4 2Mhz(266FSB)512mb/2100 ddr, GeForce4 MX 128mb Graphics,60gH/D,CDRW and DVD,FDD and clear side panel ATX case with Blue Cold Cathode light and 400PSU for less than £400.Most cheaply priced comps have shared graphics. This is not advisable if you want to have more intensive graphics use, like complex games or perhpas editing films.
