My PC seems to take a long time to start up and to shutdown. I know there is a way of finding out what programs have been activated on start up. There is also a way to switch off some of these un-necessary programs.

The only problem is I have forgotten how to do it. I know the first bit is START and then RUN, I can’t remember what to do next.

Don’t worry I won’t be turning off the firewall or the virus killers. I have done a sweep of my PC and I don’t have any viruses, however some of the programs need not be activated on start up.

Any ideas

I have windows 2000 xp
Service Pack 2. if that help
