PC speaker volume

How do I turn down the volume of the internal speaker - the one that goes bleep after the POST test? It's far too loud! I can't find any reference to it in the BIOS. I've had this problem on a few PCs. It's also a problem for dial-up internet connection when the squeaking modem noises are too loud.

If you have a Speaker symbol in the System tray, double-click on that. Otherwise Programs, Entertainment, Volume Control.

You should find 'PC Speaker' there.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried that, but it doesn't work.

Go to Sound and Audio Devices>General tab>Advanced button in the Control Panel and make a similar alteration to the PC speaker setting - make sure you click Apply before OK-ing.
