PC slow after SP2 upgrade from XP home.

Hello, I have installed XP home on a HP
ZE4258 laptop with 120GB hardrive and 192MB mem.
After the SP2 upgrade the system was incredibly slow and the ethernet connection was not working, so i repaired the installatio and went back to SP1.
Now when the laptop is turned on, before Windows login screen, it stays idle for 1 min!
What do i need to do to reset the boot process to normal?
Thank you.

you don't have enough memory.
you need at least 512Mb to run XP properly.

What do i need to do to fix the problem once more memory will be installed?

should sort itself out.
come back after installing the extra RAM if you still have problems.
the ethernet drivers will be on the driver cd for your computer.Just reload them.

Somethings you could also do:

Definitely add more RAM!

Make yourself a new XP CD with SP2 integrated into it. So next time you have to do a reinstall It will be XPSP2 from the off. click here
Do the same when SP3 comes out

Always defrag after applying updates and service packs.
