PC shuts down without warning?

Hi my PC running Windows 7 shuts down after about 1 hour without warning. Can anyone suggest any settings that need adjustment?

I've looked at the power saving setup via Control Panel but can't see if there is anything amiss. Any suggestions?

Its probably overheating

open it up and use a hairdryer on cool setting and a small paint brush to clear out all the dust.

aslo there may be a layer of fluff between the heatsink and cpu fan.

Thanks, I came to the same conclusion myself after it stopped immediately after posting my question!!

I have just defluffed and generally cleaned out the casing, removed the processor fan and heatsink, cleaned it all up and rebedded the heatsink to the processor with a smear of silicon heat transfer compound. (Compound I had from earlier upgrading of the processor to a Pentium 4 on an earlier machine many years ago!)

Fingers crossed now that it lasts longer than the last run which was only 10 minutes!

Cheers.
