pc running slow

My pc is running slow. Well, during boot up and the initial loading of programs that is. Now I recently had a severe virus attack and homepage hijack. This was sorted but i was advised to download various utilities to use during the sorting process.
At the moment I use spyware guard, spyware blaster ,avg, a-squared, adaware, and most recently spybot.
The programs I downloaded to perform specific tasks were mwav and ewido.
Are these too many? Or could it be something else?

avg and a-squared may be your problem...

You should only run ONE anti-virus program on your system, so try removing one (keep the other) of these....

a2 and AVG are two different animals and can safely be installed on a system at the same time.

a2 is an anti-virus scanner which only scans when you set it to perform a scan. The rest of the time it does nothing.

AVG is an anti-virus program which runs and scans constantly in the background. It offers real time protection.

Ewido does the same thing. Thus, these two may be clashing with each other.

mwav - never heard of it. What is it supposed to do?

As mattyc_92 says you should only have one real-time AV scanner on your system.

Make your choice and remove the other/s.

mwav - found it now click here

Calls itself an anti-virus scanner.

I guess this will also clash with AVG and Ewido.

As I said in my last post - make a choice and choose one only.
