Can you get it to start in Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 on start-up), if so you could try a System Restore back to before you got itchy fingers.

sounds as if you have blown the CPU

any signs of life at all when you switch on?

checked the obvious?
socket on
fuse
lead
PSU switch if fitted

  Fruit Bat /\0/\ 11:26 28 Dec 2008

try another PSU

  shauny36 11:38 28 Dec 2008

psu seems to be working, drives are opening and fans are working.

If you can't get into the bios try taking out the motherboard battery and move the jumper to the bios reset pins. Move jumper back afterwards and replace battery. This should have reset bios to original default settings and undo any changes that you made. Then try restating system.
