PC power supply problem?

I've been noticing that my PC is taking longer to boot up these days. I also notice that the power led on the front of the PC is flashing.
Once the PC has booted up it appears to work just fine.
Am I right in assuming that the flashing light is a sign of imminant doom for my power supply?

Unlikely - not sure what it could be though - you sure it's not wrongly wired to the hard disk indicator connector - cos that will flash (but not regularly)?

Slow booting up is commonly too much to do at boot time - maybe needs a clearout, maybe just too many programs starting.

Desktop or laptop?
make and model?
Some motherboards flash the power LED to indcate faults during POST, especially in laptops.
