In the last 48 hours my PC has started to reboot immediately after shutdown.

I have tried scandisk and sfc /scannow and system restore without success. Can anyone suggest a remedy please?

Try this ...

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties>Advanced tab>

Under Start-up and Recovery, click Settings to open the Start-up and Recovery dialog box.

Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

Thanks for the ideas. Have solved it now by disabling the power-on option for the onboard LAN, in Power Management in the BIOS.

The only occurrence I could think of was the Powerline plug to this PC had packed-up (again), so this seemed a possible link to the problem.

Thanks again.
