hi, title pretty much sums this one up. When i load up winxp pro, the screen freezes on the background with only my cursor on show. No taskbar, no icons or anything, just the background and the cursor. The only way ive found round this is to go task manager and do an end process on "iexplore32.exe" then everything re-appears straight away. Whats going on?

Might be worth "repairing" IE. It won't do any harm.

This is a tad suspicious. I don't have IEXPLORE32.EXE on my XP HE. Internet Explorer is IEXPLORE.EXE.

Do you have up to date anti-virus?

Start, Run, Enter

MSCONFIG

and OK.

Look for IEXPLORE32 and disable it from running at startup.
