PC that does not complete booting from CDROM

Friend, a mite ancient and depends on my help such as it is.
He runs Win2000 no internet, but deeply into Photoshop CS2. A lifelong hobby.

He has too many partitions and needs to rearrange to make space available in logical places.
The OS drive is NTFS, all others are FAT32

I would like to use PQ Magic and while the disk will boot through its Dr DOs part the PQ screen does not develop and just hangs there with a large hourglass and no more progress.

If I boot from 2K installation disk there is no delay and obviously I exit before I wreck things for him

Am I just being impatient?
Have stuck it for a couple of minutes at a time but should I leave it longer, while I paint the house?

Any other ideas in addition to patience?

Be patient PQ can take quite sometime especially if you have made a lot of changes.
