My PC (using XP Home) crashes when I attempt to use my Logitec Quick Cam to hold a video/audio conversation through Windows Messenger. Any ideas what might put it right, please?
I would check the USB arrangements. If you have an ADSL modem and the cam on the same hub, that's the problem.
Thank for your suggestions, Graham. The camera is straight into a USB port on my computer and the ADSL goes into a hub. Any further thoughts?drho
Usually ADSL Modems do not like being connected via a hub.
Look in Device Manager, USB Root Hub, Action, Properties, Power. Assuming you have at least 2 Root Hubs, put the modem on one and the camera on the other. Remove all other USB devices. Now try it out. If all is well, at least you will know where the problem lies.
Which Messenger?Install latest driver of Logitech webcam.Perform a Windows Update.I did successfully use Logitech webcam with Yahoo! Messenger with a slow modem connection.
