password removal

  tesfred 06:33 17 Aug 2009

can anyone help please, in order to protect our grandchildren when using the internet, we went into administrator account and set a password. This has worked well for some time now. Recently the grandchildren upgraded to laptops, now we need to remove the password we set in order to be able to use the internet without having to ype in the password every time. Any ideas please. Many thanks, tesfred1944 (silver surfer)

Can you tell us exactly where you put the password or what you are doing when it asks you to enter one. (We need to know if the password is linked to the machine or a particular programme)

Hi Taff yes we went into, start, control panel, administrator tools and set password for all internet sites. So would assume that the password is linked to he machine and not a particular programme. We thought that by going into administrator tools that we could reverse the procedure and disable the password, does not give this option. running windows xp home with avast antivirus, adware, & superantispyware installed, any ideas please? tesfred1944 many thanks.

Start-up in Safe mode, then go to Tools etc as before. Then do a normal re-start.

Didn`t know you could actually do this. Where in Administrative Tools did you do it exactly?

Or, you might have set the kids Password in Internet Explorer, by going to Tools>Internet Options>Content ....
