I have just installed win xp on my new computer and it is all new to me after using win 98, how do I partition the 80 gb drive into 5 parts. Dave

you cant. unless you use something like partition magic 7/8. you could partition ya hard drive at the start of loading winxp.
maybe someone else on the site knows a way of doing it that i dont know.

It should have given you the option to partition your hard drive during the instalation procedure.
Sorry, That is if you have done a clean instal and not upgrade.

You are supposed to be able to do this, I have never managed it yet.

Go to start, right click my computer, pick manage.

In the left tree pick disk management. Now if you right click in to a sector of unallocated drive, it is supposed to give you the options of.

New partition or free space in a logical partition in an extended drive.

I have never had these options. It may be because I use my hard disk in one partition?

If you get to disk management, then click on the help file. Type in partitions and then pick creating. If you work it out, let ME know. lol
