There are four partitions in my harddisk.Say - C,D, E & F. C is primary partition. Which are extended partitions ? Which are logical partitions ?

Please explain.

In XP, right click on My Computer, then click on Manage; Computer Management should appear. Then click on Disk Management, your disk layout should then be shown. Each partition will be colour coded;

Dark Blue - Primary
Green - Extended
Light Blue - Logical

Hope this helps.

You can only have a maximum of 4 primary partitions on a HD so you overcome this by creating an extended partition into which you can place as many logical partitions as you like

To,

My D, E and F drives have green colour as well as light blue colour. It means that trio are extended partitions as well as logical partitions.

Is it correct ? I have doubt. Please confirm.
