I have a dual boot system (Vista 64 bit/Windows 7 64 Bit), and my the largest partition is now getting a "low space" warning. How can I take 10GB from the Win 7 partition and join it to the Vista partition? Thanks
I think you will need to create a new partition (10g) and then merge it into the vista partition
From what you have said, assuming you have just 2 partitions on your HD.
Leave system and application files strictly alone.
Pick some data files (pics, music and similar) Copy and paste to the Vista partition. Then return and delete the originals until you have moved 10Gb worth.
If things are as tight as you imply this can only be a temporary act. One useful way forward is to buy an external drive and store the data archives on that.
Neater but much more complex is to consider a large replacement of the internal HD ...... and still you will need an external drive for backup.
If you want to extend the Vista partition you could use partition software AOMEI Partition Assistant, and you could download Ccleaner to free up some space, it will not delete your used data.
