partion hd AFTER format

is it possible to add a partion without formatting the drive.
have just formatted my pc but forgot to make a partion.
have got a 120gig hd that i want to split so in the event of a crash i just have to format 1 partion as the other will have all the backup stuff on.

also what is the difference between a extended and logical drives.

If you are using FDISK then no, but you can using any half decent Partition Manager. I prefer Partition Magic, but there are free and cheaper ones

The only program that I know of is Partition Magic formally owned by Power Quest now owned by Norton. It does it without the loss of any data too.

is it possible to do a partion through disk management.or if i use that will i have to format the drive.
