I have a HP printer which says it must not be on the same parallel port as a scanner. Unfortunately my new computer only has one parallel port. I have seen a converter cable available. Would this work ok? To plug into usb

Can see no reason why it should'nt work. If you can post a link to this products web site we can check further.

If you have a spare PCI slot you can also fit a Parallel port card (usually with 2 ports). These can be bought for under £15.

I've no direct experience of using a USB to Parallel port adapter but am currently using USB to serial port adapters sucessfully and without any problem on installation (WinXP).
