Page cannot be displayed error

I have recently joined vodafone at home broadband. It worked ok but now I'm getting 'Page cannot be displayed'. I've checked internet settings, all ok, rang voafone, they've checked everything and all is ok, no probs with the lines etc, they've made me check 100 things but nothing looks wrong on the PC. They say its a problem with the PC but I dont know what. It works fine, the only thing I can think of is that the power to the house was knocked off while the PC was on so was not shut down properly. Theres been no errors on the PC since then and it works fine- but not broadband. Would appreciate any help! Thanks

Check that you are actually on line by testing the connection as follows

Start, Run, enter --cmd and click OK.

Then at the > prompt type

ping[ address of the ISP]

or the address they have been asked to ping.

you may also want to try

tracert[The address of the ISP]

which will show you all the hops.

Out of interest what do the hops exactly specify?
