Hi im helping my friend with a computer
he has a packard bell the problem is that it when he pushs the power button the fans start spinning and the lights come on but there is no display on screen.

i know it is not an problem with the moniter because i tried it with 2 diffrent pcs and a laptop and it works so im pretty sure its not the monitor.
i am not sure wat the problem is so any help would be apreciated

Any sign of hard drive running (noise)?

Its probably a failed PSU (lights abd fn tke little power)

Harddrive is running i can hear the sound i dont no about psu because all lights are working cd/dvd drive opens and closes and the fan at the back near the psu is spinning

Im not sure but im wondering if its a graphics card issue

Any beeps? Does it have a separate video card, or does it use on-board graphics (you can tell from the position of the VGA socket)?

First of all there are no beeps and secondly its got a separete graphics card

I would try removing the card (power off and take anti static precautions, of course) then replacing it - just in case the connections are poor. If that doesn't work, I'd get a cheap card and try that (30 quid or so).

Then I'd go for a cheap replacement first.

just a thought - does it have on-board graphics as well? If so, try on there.
