I have a packard bell imedia 1402 which wont boot there is a flashing yellow light around the start button and you can hear the fan working and a clicking noise from the hard drive but thats about it any ideas?
try opening the case and reseating all the different cables. It is often better to pull the cable out and then push firmly in rather that just pushing in its original position.
Sounds like hard drive failure, have you tried booting from a bootable CD?
Do you see the boot screen on your monitor?
it does not get as far as the monitor just the flashing yellow on the power on button
If under guarantee (which I doubt) take it back.If not, then as howard64 has suggested, REMOVE all power leads from the computer, then.1) Open the case2) Check fans for dust.3) Remove the graphics card from it's slot and clean, replace.Try again. If this fails to bring it back to life I think your Power supply may be the culprit.
I think it may be the power supply I will take it to a local shop and get them to check the power supply thanks folks for your advice I will let you know the outcome next week
