Packard Bell Recovery Diskette

Hi, I have a desktop computer that is running Windows ME. Now i have come across a lot of problems so i decided to inset the diskette to re install the operating system, However when i go into advance options ( cos i felt like having a look) I noticed there was a option To "reformatt the hard disk. Now the drive is partioned so 1 partition is the computer and the other is the operating systems files so if any thing went wrong the second partition of files would be re copied. So Could anybody please tell me is i clicked on the formatt disk option, Would that delete everything and i would never be able to get the operating system files back or will it just formatt the computer partion and then i would just have to say install the operating system with the other files.
