ows XP disks

I have an old compaq laptop running XP Pro, which I was given. No Windows disks came with it, I gather they disappeared after a house move, but the copy is genuine. I have a PC with xp home, also genuine.
I need to rebuild the laptop, and can't go down the 'Barts PE' route, the installation files aren't there.
Could I load xp home onto the laptop and use the laptop's product key, or would microsoft object that the key is a 'pro' key? (If that happened I'd be well and truly stuffed! so I have to be sure)

You could borrow a xp pro disk, and instal it using you key on your pc.

I don't think the Pro key will work with Home; as Tullie says, you need to borrow a copy of XP Pro
