outside the door - key on the inside

Have an old IBM Thinkpad my wife acquired from work, running 2000 Pro. Need Username and password each time to log on, which is a nuisance. saw query on p152 August PCA about disabling this, thought "great", tried it, now on loading up I still get the username/password logon screen greyed out and message saying couldn't log on and to enter password again. Won't recognise any of passwords previously used. Can't access safe mode either.
AARGH! Shot in foot! Can I get back in again or do I need professional help?

reformat the disk and press cancel when prompted to create a password

a very " practical" tip , for keys.....always, always keep them on you ,even when indoors. never, ever have them out of your posession ......you can then never be locked out.......

Thanks guys! I can't believe that unchecking a box means a re-format! Is there really no other way?

Do you have the Win2k CD? If so, boot with it and do a repair.
