Outlook Express shutting down

Every time I use Outlook Express, either to download or send Email, after a short time, I get a pop-up window telling me "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and will now shut down" or words to that effect.
It invites sending a report to Microsoft but whether I do or not, it immediately shuts Outlook Express down.
When I reopen Outlook Express, everything is normal again for maybe 90 seconds or 2 minutes and the same thing happens again.
How do I stop this?

Outlook Express and Internet Explorer share many files. Perform a repair of Internet Explorer. From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and highlight it. Click on the Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes up, select Repair. Click OK.

Also, you can get to the IE Tools menu by clicking Start > Run and type

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

If still no joy, uninstall and reinstall Outlook Express.
After backing up any e-mails and address you wish to keep.
