Outlook Express problem

  terendak_uk 18:23 01 Sep 2007

I use Outlook Express as my email client.Every 15mins or so it stalls ( I get a "not responding" message) ...if I wait a further minute , all is well again.I would be very grateful for any thoughts regarding this problem.

because it's polling the mail server. Try altering the polling frequency in the accounts options settings, and see if that makes a difference.

Forum Editor!
I will check this as soon as the B****y OE un-stalls...ah! Ok, do I go into Accounts or Options? I just tried both and I cannot see "polling frequency" in either.

In Options I note that, under the "general" tab, "default Messaging Programs" it states that "This application is NOT the default Mail handler".
Never have to change this on many other PCs.
Clueless Carl.

Tools > Options > General tab > Check for messages every...

These glitches can also occur if your ISP's mail servers are playing up.

"Check for new messages every" is set at 30mins! Ok..I have changed it to 60 mins. Let's see. Sure ISP might be at fault but...this happens every time I use this PC...not the other two in my house.
Thanks very much

Just tried to reply to an email...within 20mins. Stalled again. Came back within 5 mins so I started another email...then it stalled again, for around 60secs. Perhaps it's my PC.
A clean install of Windows is required?

just rechecked. Have to admit that, until recently, I had another problem with OE: although I could send emails, OE also saved them in Outbox, so everytime I subsequently sent another email, all previous emails were resent....Very embarrassing!
However, OE just "righted" this, after two weeks of immediately manually deleting all these sent- emails from Drafts.
Now this problem. I am perplexed. Can anyone further advise me? I would be very grateful
