Outlook Express memory problem

I get the following message when I sign into OE. How do I correct it?

An attempt to allocate memory failed. The system is out of memory - then my PC details -Error Number: 0x8007000E

Usually due to a corrupt profile


Close all running applications

Click Start Menu >> Click Control Panel >>

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

Click the Install/Uninstall tab

Click Microsoft Outlook Express 5, and then click Add/Remove.

Outlook Express will be uninstalled. Click OK to close the Add/Remove Programs window, and then close Control Panel.

Click Start Menu >> Click Run

Type regedit to start Registry Editor

In Registry Editor find the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

Click the {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} key, and then click Export Registry File on the Registry menu.

Save the file to any other location by using the Save In Button

Type a name for the file in the File name field

Click Save.

When the file is saved, return to the {44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} key

Press the DELETE key on your keyboard

Confirm that you want to delete the key, and then close Registry Editor.




Updated the Internet Explorer and Outlook Express from their original versions

Click Start Menu - Click Control Panel
Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Click the Install/Uninstall tab
Click Microsoft Internet Explorer's latest Version
Click Add/Remove.
The Setup Wizard starts
You will be guided with a choice of actions
Click Add a component, and then click OK
The Component Options window opens, and you see a list of check boxes
Click to select the Outlook Express check box, and then click Next
Outlook Express is reinstalled. You will be asked to restart your computer
When the operation is complete, open Outlook Express

I've printed off your advice - as a very non-techy user I want to makle sure I understand the whole process and I have 3 immediate queries.

I'm using XP and the Install/Uninstall list of progammes does not include Outlook Express.

Looking at the registry instructions a file is saved in another location. Can this be put in My Documents? There is no subsequent reference to using it - is it recognised automatically?

Without OE appearing in the Install/Uninstall list how do I reinstall the latest version?

Still struggling with this.

A suggestion I'm following is that the cause is a corrupt file in the Inbox. I've moved essential ones to a folder in My Documents and deleted the rest - all apart from 3 that will not delete or move.

Is there another way to delete them?
