Outlook Express

The following has started to appear every few days
“To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages, This may take up to a few minutes”. I click on OK but what does it mean as I regularly delete all my old e-mails the next day.

I’m running Windows XP & Outlook Express 6

It means that it compresses them to save space.

In Outlook Express you can check the settings for compacting messages if you go to >Tools > Options > Maintenance

...if it helps
mine has a tick in 'Compact messages in the background'. Also in 'Compact messages when there is ** percent wasted space' I have got it set at 20 (per cent) I have no idea if this is an ideal setting or not.... but it works for me :)

I do it myself at the end of every day.

Go to: Outlook Express->File->Folder-Compact all Folders

This will keep the storage of emails without wasting space
