I have been having trouble sending and receiving email for some time with error messages coming in.With help from " Broadband Medics" NTLWORLD,who checked my account and system which seemed in order I still have my problems with mail.
What baffles me is maybe after a few days I click on "Outlook Express and bingo! there is a load of emails waiting to be opened but at the same time the error message box opens. Then I have to waite a few more days to be able to open my email again.
Any magicians out there

What are the error messages?

Just for starters, try using a different email client to see if the same thing happens

Here is a decent one:

Hi DÕ DÕ. It's best to reply via the "Add a new response" box at the bottom of this page, then other forum members can join in the discussion.

The error you refer to is usually caused by the antivirus program, especially AVG7, changing the server identity in order to check the emails for viruses. Sometimes it is due to the antivirus and firewall between them preventing access to the email server. As I said AVG7 is one of the worst offenders, whereas I haven't heard of any problems with Avast antivirus click here.

If you check the website for your antivirus you may find what settings you need to change.
