Search the data base and there is a lot of discussion about the ever present "box with red cross". Is there a difinitive answer? PopUp blockers disabled, show pictures box checked but what is the answer to ALWAYS see what you want to see or are we expecting too much? I have just downloaded a How To Guide from the net then went to read it offline. You guessed it, b#';'#y red crosses where all the pictures should be...arrrghhhhh

Usually the red x is due to temp int folder being too full so browser cache is too full.

MichelleC's solution usually works but in case it doesn't, try this :-

Run regedit and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Name-Space Handler

Right click and delete both http and ftp then exit regedit. To be on the safe side make a copy of the keys before deleting them, viz, File, Export and backup the two keys: http and ftp.
