Organising photographs

  Newuser4302 13:14 14 Apr 2007

I would like to store all my old photographs (scanned from negatives) on an external hard drive keeping them in folders corresponding to the films. I should then like to be able to assign searchable keywords to each frame which would be searchable by a program included on the hard drive so that I could use it on any PC. I don't need the program to be able to change the photo in any way, just show thumbnails and/or file lists.

Can anyone advise me please?

Have a look at 'organising photos' in the paragraph - Before you begin.

In My Postings, if only for the link provided by Technotiger.

Picasa seems to look for all photos and runs from the C drive. I would like something to run from the external hard drive and only read that drive.

I have a program called Thumbsplus (which I got free a very long time ago on a coverdisk).

It does read and find all pictures on all drives but you can set to read whatever drive you nominate.

Checking the Cerious Software site it does not appear to be free anymore.

I wonder if it is ethical/legal to email you the version I have (Which was free). It is version 3.3.

Sorry, meant to say I do still have the coverdisk that this program was issued on.

It is PC Advisor December 2001 Issue 75.

As it was a coverdisk would it be legal to make a copy and post it?

Maybe it is listed in the PCA Downloads site?

Just checked the PCA Download site and it only lists thumbsplus 5.01 but it is a demo.

Have a look at the FastStone program, it may suit you. click here

You will have to do a search when you've reached Download.
