Opera - editting the dropdown URL list

How do I edit the dropdown URL list in Opera (v9.10)? I want to remove some of the existing entries. If I can't do this in Opera, is there a 3rd party utility that will enable this? Many thanks.

If you mean the bookmarks, click on bookmarks and in the dropdown menue click manage bookmarks. You can delete any url's here.

the drop down in the address bar, this is held in a file called vlink4.dat which is in the Profile folder of Opera. You could edit that...

However, it's a bit messy and you may find it easier to clear it via Tools>Delete Private Data

Click the "Details" button to see and tick/untick what will be deleted.

Suggestion elsewhere was to edit the file opera.dir in the profile sub-directory. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a promising suggestion.

opera.dir is the file in question, as you suggest.
