Opening file

  scouser 11:23 17 Feb 2007

I have downloaded a small file (containing a driver I want)from an internet site and the shortcut is on my desktop. However when I click it I get the message 'Pleas select a program to open this file' and it shows a list of programs. How do I know which one to choose? The shortcut has an ~ under it if that means anything.

What is the full name and extension of the file?

Like Jackcoms, need to know the extention.

If it is an .inf file, then you will have to do the following;

-control panel
-system properties
-device manager
-select the device you are trying to upgrade, double click
-driver, choose update driver, and follow instructions on screen, when it asks for the locationd of the driver, direct it to the new driver file on the desktop.

Hope this helps.
